Chartreuse de la Verne

In the heart of the massif des Maures, the Chartreuse de la Verne opens some of its buildings to visitors. The self-guided route includes the gatehouse, bakery, a monk’s cell and the Romanesque church. A booklet helps explain the spaces and stages of restoration. The monastery still has an active religious community: visits take place in silence, after a short walk from the car park.

Exceptional closure on Ascension Thursday. Closed on Easter Sunday. From 01/06 to 31/08, every day from 11am to 6pm. Exceptional closures on Ascension Thursday and 15 August. Closed on Whit Sunday. From 01/09 to 31/10, every day from 11am to 5pm. From 01/11 to 04/01, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and weekends from 11am to 5pm. Closed on Tuesdays. Exceptional closures on 1 November and 25 December. Closed on 25 December.

Access and precautions
Final approach on foot: approximately 700 m from the car park. Narrow, winding road; coaches prohibited. Please keep silent and respect areas reserved for the community. May close when access restrictions apply to the massifs. Shop closed on Sundays. January: annual closure to be confirmed, as the source is inconsistent about whether closure starts in early January or lasts the whole month.
