Roman arch of Cavaillon

On place du Clos, see a remnant of the Roman town of Cabellio. The arch of Cavaillon, dating from the early 1st century, retains four piers and two semicircular arches. Its reliefs combine plant motifs, small animals and figures of Victory. The monument once stood near place de l’Évêché, now place Philippe de Cabassole; it was moved to its current location in 1879-1880. Freely accessible, it makes a short heritage stop in the heart of Cavaillon.
